Wayward What you Need
Wayward What you Need is a bit of a show off. He likes to prance around and look fancy for sure. He is also (so far) been an extremely well behaved young stallion, Santiago hasn't run into many issues yet whilst handling him, getting him used and adjusted to wearing tack, he even picked up lunging pretty quick! Though we are sure its because he see's it as an opportunity or flounce around and show off to the mares watching from the stables! Seeing as he isn't fazed with lunging with tack on the next step is getting him using to a rider....we wonder if he will be as well behaved with that ?!

Ardorwen Jumping Cup III
We selected just two of our horses to take to Ardorwen Jumping Cup III which was in fact quite tricky! We looked at the class list and made a list of what horses we have to compete at what levels then narrowed it down, the first was pretty easy we decided on taking our most experienced horse RFE Lieto and competing him in the 1.60 Grand Prix Class. Then it got tough! As we have Sid & Liébana whom their primarily discipline is SJ or Banchelor or Faith whose secondary is SJ and lasted we have What you Need who we plan to compete in SJ but he's not broken in yet so that ruled him out. As Banchelor is also an Eventer we are entering him in Eventing by the sea so ruled him out, Sid we competed fairly recently so rule him out. Then we tossed a coin between the last two and Liébana won! We look forward to seeing the results though we know it will be a tough competition!

KPC Limoncello training
Theo & Limoncello have been training hard to make sure they are up to good standards ready for competition. Limoncello is a very sweet and trying little mare but likes to get a bit whizzy. Todays session was on controlling that speed in a light seat position. She is quite sensitive to Theo's movements and by leaning forwards to her this means go very fast, in some cases yes Theo would like to add a bit of speed and get off her back but quite often he actually isn't in control and this could potentially become dangerous. We would like to get her out hacking and xc training but before we do that we would like Theo to be more in control! She is a bright little mare too so she tends to pick up on things fairly quickly, by the end of the session they could canter around the ring in a controlled way whilst Theo was in light seat the whole time. We expect Theo's legs to be burning tomorrow!

Eventing By The Sea - Part 1
We flew 4 of our horses and riders out to compete in the event ''Eventing By The Sea''. See below photos for the first two and stay tuned for part 2!
SC Spark of Life - Novice Cassie had been eagerly awaiting the day where she would enter Margo in her first Eventing competition as she had high hopes for her being the first offspring from her top Eventing Stallion and hopes she follows in his footsteps. Like her father she is quite forward but you have a lot more control with her, we like to call her keen especially out on the cross country course. Margo rode a nice dressage test, popped round the show jumping course like she'd done it before - ok she may have seen people watching and jumped at a few scary objects but she took it all in her stride. Her best round was of course the XC, she loved every minute off it and flew round!
TBS Banchelor Dampfross Jr - Advanced Banchelor knows his job that's for sure. Before we brought him he competed in high levels with his previous owner so we know he can do his job. Previously we have only tried SJ with him but have been on the lookout for an Eventing competition to try him in, though will admit in training we mainly practiced dressage and jumping and a little cross country but nothing big!
Santiago is a fairly new member to the team and he took on Banchelor's ride, they get on pretty well as Banchelor is defiantly more of a mans ride than a woman's one. Overall he was happy with Banchelor's performance in all disciplines, though he said he felt a little stuffy & tight in the Dressage ring but as an older horse he may just need a little extra time warming up, next up in the show jumping ring he jumped well though was occasionally a little lazy with his back legs and cross country he went round at a nice steady pace but jumped the jumps with power!

Eventing By The Sea - Part 2
And here we have it the final two horses to compete in Eventing By The Sea.
WPW Here There Be Monsters - Intermediate
It was their first event on the season and it could go one of two ways with Hanni. It's always been like that, always on his terms - if you ask and he doesn't want to you know about it trust me and its just not worth it when he's in one of his moods. Thing is with Hanni is he always seems to have a slightly pissed of look to his face so you never can tell! Luckily today wasn't one of those days and he performed throughout the event well....phew!
WRNGS Winter's Blues - Preliminary Wilma the easy going eager to please little mare that she is, was an easy ride throughout all 3 phases.

Maple Vale's Spring Dressage Clinic
The end of this month saw us taking two of our dressage horses out for a clinic. It was nice to get them off the property even if it was just for a clinic, to give them a change of scene as our dressage horses have been forgotten about recently. We chose to take Einhard as he is one of our older horses we would like him to go up a level but feel like him and Grace could do with some outside guidance with that and secondly we took the new boy Diatendro a lot to ask but hey a good experience for our youngest and least experienced.
TBS Einhard & Grace Hampton
Diatendro S & Flora Mckay
''HELLLO EARTH TO FLORA''... ''HELLO ANYONE HOME''.....
''Mmm yeah sorry you talking to me''
''Finally a response, look where your going work you, there's nothing special about the boards''
